Hi all, I'm Tom and live just outside of Lincoln.

After driving a wide rang of vehicles for the past few years I have managed to pick up a 1997 VW Polo 1.6L Saloon, with 32,000 miles for the bargain price of -£1. The car belonged to a member of my family who decided to give up driving and very kindly gifted the car to me. I then found a £1 in the ashtray so the car is making me money already

It's been a while since I've driven an older car but have to say that I already love it. I will post up some pictures tomorrow as it is too dark now. Looking forward to subtly improving the car and so apologies in advance for the barrage of questions that I am likely to be shortly asking.

As promised a picture of the car:

First steps will be de-oranging the front and sides, although cannot find a "clear" kit for the rears of the saloon, and doing something with the wheels. Really am not keen on the wheels as they are but unsure what to do with them. May spray them up black/grey for a start. Thoughts?

You might find clear indies & other bits, if you search for "Seat Cordoba" as yours is based on that model and not much from the Polo 6N (same era) will be suitable
