Changing door locks but keeping the same key?

Featured Replies

As title. Have had someone try and break into my car and they've damaged the lock. The lock still works but it looks terrible now. I have a spare barrel in the loft but I want to keep the same key, is there a way of changing the internals?

Thanks

can take apart the barrel and keep the little plates /tumblers in order , then assemble into the new barrel

if some are damaged then file a bigger one to match

Thank you, very useful link. Seems quite fiddly for my sausage fingers though lol

shouldnt be too bad , but yeah take your time and do it somewhere you wont loose the bits

nice hitler cat btw

Can you not swap the drivers side and passenger side barrel over? Or put your new barrel in the passenger side? Then you keep your key on the drivers side.

Assuming this is for a mk2/2f, send me the barrel and key you want matching and I can put new tumblers in your lock barrel.
