The Polo Social - Your first time? What is it? What to Expect? How to Book!

Featured Replies

The Polo Social, What is it?
The Polo Social is a social event held on 26th-28th June 2015 that is put on by Club Polo which is open to all VW Polo owners from any Club. So if you are part of a local club bring everyone down and grab a spot in the field.

What to Expect?
A relaxed event where you can catch up with other members, see their cars and meet new people from the club. Expect a big club meet which lasts the weekend with some beers and BBQs!

Whats going on?
Details are yet to be finalised but plans are for the club BBQ to return on the Saturday night, Show and Shine on the Sunday. We are looking to have some things going Saturday day and hopefully a car related film on the Saturday night.

Where is it?
The event is held at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton Billing, NN3 9DA. http://www.billingaquadrome.com/01524 781 453
We have held the event here for a number of years and its an excellent venue which really suits the clubs event. There is food available on site and there are also a couple of pubs and a Fish & Chips shop in walking distance. There is also the Mini-Golf, Karting and a leisure centre with a pool.

What do you need?
If you are camping then you need the general camping gear of tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you want to clean your car up for the show and shine on the Sunday there is a cold water supply so bring your bucket and cleaning gear. Also bring some money but there is a cash machine by the entrance to the site.

How much does it cost and how to book?

If you are camping Friday & Saturday we have a rally rate of £15 per pitch per night. A pitch is for a tent for up to 4 people, if you have extra cars they may charge you extra. To book for 2 nights head to http://www.billingaquadrome.com/ and click book now. You will need to enter the special offer code VW15 and then please select PuddleDuck as this is our field.
If your are camping for just the Saturday night then its £20 per pitch. You can book this online as per above but you will not be able to select Puddleduck. Please select another field but just pitch up in the Puddleduck field with the rest of us when you arrive as there will be loads of room.
The day rate is £10 per car.

  • This is what happens if you just 'drop by' the whole show and the point of it is to be social. Doesn't matter if there isn't much going on, mingle in, get to know people have a drink and a laugh! That

That's exactly it. We arrived on the Friday and moored up with Scottish lot and we only left at 11 this morning. Next year I'll probably come up on the Thursday!

Hello I'm new here and joined a few weeks ago and just wondering how big is this event? And also will there be a lot of cars as it would be a 3 hour drive for me. Thanks

Hey rafal, its not such a big event... Its more of a gathering of polo lovers that get drunk, chat crap and have fun... Its well worth it, my first show was polo show last year, everyone made me feel welcome. And we all had a laugh. There is a show and shine on the Sunday, witch is fun, with a bbq.

Last year, I ended up on the lake in a inflatable chair, was fun as hell :)

There was quite a fair share of cars here last year, but as I said, its more of a social thing, over a show :) worth the time tho :)

Hope this helps

It used to be called the Polo Show, but social is a better word for it. Everyone is friendly and its nice to have a poke about some polos.

Is there a show and shine this year Mark?

Has has been said its not like Edition/VW Action. Is just a chilled out social event for Polo Owners.

Yes there is the show and shine on the Sunday. We are having a few new trophies this year as well rather that just the normal ones :)

We are thinking maybe some RC Car competition/fun stuff on the Saturday maybe.. :)

What about the ever elusive rolling road?

Rafal, you can also not get drunk and still enjoy yourself 👍

So far this sounds good and worth a 3 hour drive I don't drink myself and I think I will still have a sick time looks like I may come to this it be my first social type thing I been to recently became an owner of a mk2f polo and loving it!!! Can't wait to find vw,dub meets and shows to go to

I'd say most people average 2-3 hours to get there and alot more people come from Scotland, Cornwall, Germany etc...

I'll be repping for Cornwall this year. :) Looking forward to it! Just got my holiday forms through from work so I think I'll be booking the 25th to the 29th off!

Rafal, Christian makes this every year from Germany! So no excuse not to come and don't worry not all of us drink :P

I've booked my holiday off for this now, I just need to call up and book the camping. I'm assuming you pay when you book, so it will have to wait until I get paid!

Do we just call up Billing Aquedrome with the dates and mention that we're with Club Polo?

There will be a discount code to quote, this should be available soon :)

Ideal, which two nights do we book, Friday and Saturday?

  • Author

Yeah Friday and Saturday is normally what most people do. :)

Booking now, I'm assuming we just go for Puddleduck standard and it'll mean we're all in the same place.

Confused myself because it said sold out, but then I put in the VW15 code and it came up with the rally rates. Arriving 26 June. :)

Looking forward to this!

Edit, just realised I can't book until Friday when I have some money come in!

Yes you need to put the booking code in otherwise it says sold out!! :)

Sounds really good to be honest. Hopefully I'll have passed my test by then, so may try and get down for it, coming from Liverpool anyways! When's the latest you can book? Does it have to be round abouts now or can it wait?

You can leave it all the way up to the day before if you want.

  • 3 weeks later...
