I've just picked up my first polo, 1.0E 6n2. The ride is quite wallowy, seems to have a lot of roll. does anyone have the standard ride height measurements as mine seems very high and I think it could be the culprit. the rear end looks fine just the front looks overly high.

The front end is usually a bit high. I remember having quite a good arch gap before I lowered it.

Wallows ride is most probably down to worn bushes though. It should still handle well even if the ride height is high.

Not much there tbh, there are 2 lower bushes on the front wishbone and a ball joint, then a rubber top mount. Obviously shock and spring. Then steering wise is a tie rod and track rod end either side.

The rear has 1 bush on each side and a pair of rubber mounts at the top. Again a shock and spring too.

Very simple design and it is always a good idea to renew the lot if you plan on keeping the car or using it a lot.

the lower front bushes especially make a huge difference to handling.

Also there SHOULD be an anti roll bar at the front, If there isn't then get hold of one and fit it because it handles like crap without one. There are 2 doughnut bushes around a drop link and then a rear bush on each side. This also makes a huge difference.

There isn't a rear ARB as standard, the gti and maybe tdi have a built in ARB in the rear beam. Not a lot of point fitting that tbh.

Mine doesn't handle very well, skips quite easily on the front. my front anti roll bar bushes do need changing but I think its more than that. its not dangerous just not right.

just wondering if someone has fitted the wrong springs in the past, maybe from a tdi or something like that. i think the only way to find out is to change them.
