Poly Bushings for 6N2

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my 6n2 will be undergoing a lot of work in prep for a new engine later this year. I am essentially building a track prepped 6n2 with a modded arl or bkd engine at its heart.

Anyway, I have come on to start doing some of my suspension modifications, sourced a new rear axle and am making poly bushes to suit. I was intending on simply casting a rod of poly and then turning it to my required spec. As I have access to a lathe I didn't see a point in moulding as it was excess cost to me.

However it did get me thinking, how many of you 6n2 drivers would be interested in poly bushes for your car. A complete powerflex setup will now cost you somewhere in the region of £290-£320 depending on the product you want. If anyone is interested then it would simply mean me moulding the turned bushes I make for myself and casting from the same mould. At the moment, don't really have an idea on how much they would cost as I haven't priced up materials for a lage quanitity order. But what I can say is it would be nowhere near the asking price of powerflex poly's.

I will be making mine in a Shore A 95 rating as as said NVH isn't an issue for me as it is a track car and I am looking for optimal performance. However if people are just looking for an improvement to stock, I supppose anything from Shore A 40 - 95 could be moulded.

Also I would like to mention all poly products selected are grease and abrashive resistant with high tensile and tear strengths. They are specific for heavy industry applications including that of the auotomotive industry.

Let me know if you will be interested and I can start getting an idea of prices together and a group buy thread going.

I could be interested depending on the costs.

I am awaiting further information from the supplier of the polyurethane. The quantities they sell it in is by weight rather than volumetric capacity. Once I have received the information of the volumetric capacity per kg of the product then I can make rough estimations as to the cost of manufacturing these bushes. I will update this thread then with prices.
