If you go to the local vw dealer or tps they do repair kits around £10-15 from memory best to use genuine parts I've used a ebay repair kit before and the locks felt a bit notchy.

Re build is quite easy the only fiddly bit is tensioning the spring up took me around 10 attempts to do this

I bought the kit from eBay 30 months ago and still OK :-)

I also bought the kit from eBay (twice, neither side locked) and it's okay.

Word of warning though, VERY fiddly and not fun if you have a short temper. *guilty*

Thank all of you for the information,it really helps to know that if you are stuck and need advise there is some where you can turn to for good information.mbusby993 i regret that like you i have a very short fuse but i have found if i walk away from what i am doing and go and smash something with a big hammer it helps lol :-) .As a matter of interest do either of you remember who it was on ebay you bought the kit from?

I can't recall who I bought mine from now, but a quick search will throw up the kits.

Thanks to you all for the information, now found the right kit and how to fit it.

My drivers side has just bitten the bullet and stopped working. So that's how long my first Amazon one lasted, about 6 months. BUT as I said before, it wasn't cleanly put together as I was rather irritated at the time. My passenger side that I did a week later is holding up fine.

That’s very weird, my passenger door side lock has now packed up as well so i have now got to get 2 kits, and in the meantime i have to get into the car through the hatchback ( and at my age that’s a sight to see) lol. I must admit i was really surprised that nobody local to me in Birmingham stocked the kits, its obviously such a common fault that you would think they would.

To be honest, I think it's probably one of the most common faults on all mk4/5 Polo's. At least it's a nice easy fix though, eh? :)
