My 2000 1.4 6N2 had one blip a few months ago when the instruments died. Now my battery is going flat caused by <300mA being drawn when engine off. When starting (and jumping) there is a noise coming from the cluster. Removing fuse F27 drops the current to ~30mA. F27 is self-diagnosis, instruments, interior lights...

Think my cluster has a problem. Any experiences?

Try disconnecting the plugs from the speedo unit and see if the current draw drops, if not then remove the interior light bulbs inc the boot area light

Thanks, yes, that makes sense - I'll do that before ditching this cluster

Also, the door switch, if faulty is connected to the fuel pump relay. This may or may not be relevant but it's worth keeping in mind. Mine would randomly prime the fuel pump whenever it felt like it to the point the relay over heated and cause a lot more problems. The battery would also be drained in a few hours.

When the battery wasn't a proper operating voltage the clock would make a spinning noise and beep randomly. Do they work okay when the car is running?
