Hi all,

I was planning on changing the colour of the vinyl parts ie dash and door cards to a cream colour to match the seats

I was originally thinking to remove the existing vinyl and recover it, but looking at the corners and edges it seems like a difficult thing to do. How did they do it at the factory?

Did they use a certain type of vinyl? As the material I have is quite stiff so would need a lot of heat to get it to shape.

also, not sure if this is a silly idea or not, but I thought of painting it. I have seen paints which are for vinyl and I've seen a few videos and guides but they are all in the US so those products are expensive here. Can anyone recommend any? Or the best way of doing it?

Retrimming a dashboard will be hard.

I resprayed some parts (like the sun-visors) black in my car and the paint gives a good finish. It was just Halford's own vinyl spray paint. You can get a matte finish from it from doing lots of light coats or gloss by doing heavier coats.

I too have painted that type of finish before with normal matte black aerosol and it was fine, but that's a different type of material almost a cloth.

That said I have also painted headliners black with no issues.

I should mention I did give some spare door cards a go with cheap matte black paint (they were dark grey) and it held fine in places but chipped off in others.

I would ideally like a completely matte finish as I hate shiney dashboards because on the odd day were the sun actually comes out the glare is a bit too much for me. Plus the oem dash isn't shiney - I'm going for a factory look if possible

I could probably get the cards and dash trimmed when I'm abroad for very little, trouble is a dash over there is left hand drive so iwould need to ship one from here before going over and that would be much later in the year and ideally would like to have a go in the next few weeks.
