I've now done allmost 700 miles at this level of tune, and I think on the motorway i got 35-40 mpg when not on boost, the polo social was awesome, the drive up the car got abit hot, hit 110 in traffic :( on the way back after I adjusted the idle it was so much smoother low down and the power delivery is great, I was getting afr readings 12/3 12/2 on low boost w.o.t, I'm aiming for 11.5 so the main jets gonna need upsizing 👍 and I think it's time or the next spring up in the forge actuator 😜

"A little hot" is understating a bit. We stopped at a services and there was smoooooke. She went okay other than though! Was an interesting drive up! I got about 45mpg out of the Golf which was suprising. Was a pleasure meeting you and driving up together bud! :D

Maybe some cowling around the radiator to help the cooling airflow go where it is needed?

You already said you wanted to fit an oil cooler.

I've not got a lot of room around the rad :( think I'll try an alloy rad, I've got a low temp fan switch coming, I'll see what happens.

Just bought a low temp fan switch :)

Nice to meet you at the PS mate. Though me and olly had probably had too much to drink when we saw you! haha

Car looks good!

Which rad are you using again? I wouldn't worry too much about radiant heat, id probably think about getting a bigger volume of coolant and more efficient heat exchangers in there!

With 3 times the power, comes 3 times the heat (or near enough)

Nice to meet you too mate, I'm running a standard polo rad 😂 I'm thinking about getting alloy g40 rad, and then I need to sort my oil cooler out. And like you say lots of heat :(

excellent.

Is there any shielding to keep the radiant turbo heat from the rad? (or inlet)

Only heat wrap on the down pipe, havnt really made any heat shields or anything else.

Id suggest getting a mk2 golf radiator, nice and cheap and about 50% bigger than the polo rad.

Id also heat wrap the downpipe etc, no point in putting a shield there as it will just get hot itself, then radiate the heat.

Which mk2 golf rad? Any? Sounds cheaper and better, do all the polo pipes/temp switch fit straight in?

Got my rad for about £26 for the Golf. Just for price perspective.

I would imagine the GTI ones are better though, still shouldn't be too much.
