I have a stethoscope at the ready haha and even if it does go boom it's not too expensive haha, it should take 1 bar of boost or so I've been told on standard c/r, it's scary enough as it is for me and my standard clutch will prob die 😂 but then I'll try get a helix paddle clutch fitted.

Its an 8v, it can't break.

I have the abd head with 7mm valve stems too, what could possibly go wrong 😜

Had a really fun few drives just ticked past 1900 miles 👍 I've taken the front end off and all the boost pipes off for a bit of a freshen up, re swaging a few pipes, painting the intercooler black, fitting a new horn, alternator belt and a few other goodies :)

Max I love this comment :), you gotta love 8v's!

On another note I'm still loving the build here, fire sticks next year ?

It's quite impressive how much it's been ported ( bought it like that) and no I havnt matched it yet although my head has had a mild porting diy job, this is just a spare intake not quite sure what to do with it, prob sell it or use it and sell mine, it was on tommos old car when it was rr at clubpolos rooling road day it was running 209 Bhp and 201 ft ibs :)

And I have the bottom end to that engine sat in my shed!

yeah ill be juggling next year for sure :)

Yep. and the Knife edged crank. Bought a different ABD block though as I don't know where the original went. New rings and a solid lifter head running a GT5 carb and huge intercooler ought to make quite an interesting engine.

Still not sure about ignition yet though. I have a vac advance/retard pot for a dizzy but I'm not convinced that is the best bet yet

How did you lower compression? Or is this a G40 bottom end?

No take my money I'll have your bottom end😂! The bores got rusty as it was left outside as he snapped a head bolt in the block and sold the head so he just sold the good bits skimmed Pistons crank ect, they would have fitted fine in an aav engine as it's the same block. I'm running standard vac advance and it's really holding back abit at the mo, but it still flies lol, the adapter plate above sold last night as it was my spare, it's going on my mates 1.3 mechy head Jetta with a k03 hopefully :)

Funny enough thiers a drag event next weekend down here, but i think my clutch has just started to slip on full throttle 😂 easy fix and a gearbox change well I'm at it, I've been thinking not bothering to go or kill my clutch and front tyres at the same time 😜

Radiator cracked when I hit 110 degrees haha I was expecting it to go at some point, gotta get it fixed for November the 14th for some

Drag racing, then I'm gonna change the gearbox and clutch.

There is an alloy radiator on eBay just now that's just bidding. 4 days left with just 1 bid at 99p so far. Might be worth a look.

Item number 351547748581. Not on the PC just now so can't copy and paste the link.

Yeah sceen them a few times, what rad are you running?

Standard GT rad, lower thermostat and oil cooler help a lot though. Since I got the timing sorted properly water temp sits at about 80°C and the oil sits at 70°C on the road.

On the track is a difference story though.

I'm thinking of heat wrapping the downpipe next to try and take temps down a bit more when on track.

Do you have a target time for the drags?
