BBS RXII Centre CAPS

Featured Replies

Does anybody know what size the centre caps are on the BBS RXII's, the ones that were standard to 6n2 GTI's? I get different sizes when I search on eBay. They're 15x6j but I doubt that changes anything. I was planning on getting some BBS caps to replace the VW ones, but on the way up to Wiltshire today I've managed to lose one of my VW ones anyway!

The one I lost is on the same side of the axle as the coilover that's still squeaking about it, so that's likely to be related. I know they clip in but is there a better way of securing them?

Cheers!

I cant see that far back on ebay now but i think they are the 55/50mm caps. Measure the inside diameter to be sure

One of the sizes that came up was 56/52. Don't think I saw any 55/50. Were those ones you'd replaced before? I'm guessing that because that coilover must be a bit harsher at the moment It just managed to escape. :/

56 is the outer diameter of the cap, the 52mm is the diameter of the clips where they push in. those are the ones you need I'm pretty sure :)

Fairly certain, cant see the item on feedback now as been more than 3 months

56/52 has come up the most, so I'm gonna Use my supreme powers of deduction.

Anybody got any tips on securing them in any better? Don't just want a repeat of this in 5 days time.

My rear hub and all the grease is now exposed, so I wanna get it sorted asap really. There's a lot of grease on there, actually.

You looking for blanks or for genuine vw?

As if you are looking for blanks I can send you the link to some I bought when refurbing my rx2's

I was going to get BBS ones, but if you have a link for decent blanks I could always get stickers for them. :)

What colour bbs stickers you after as that is what I done. Got blanks and bought some red carbon look bbs stickers. They are sweet as well.

These are the blanks:

And this is a picture of them on the wheels:

The rim of my alloys is red, so I was thinking red BBS stickers. Found some blank ones on eBay for about a tenner, but their estimated delivery is 25th and I want them sooner than that really. You can get BBS ones for around that price too..

Not the best pictures mate but you get the idea.

Put it this way, the blanks I ordered were on a Friday afternoon, around 5pm. They were with me Saturday morning. I ordered the Red stickers at the same time and they were with me Monday morning.

Yeah, they look pretty good. Thanks for that buddy, I think I'll go for those :)

They are domed as well which is nice. And a really nice fit for the caps. Only criticism I have of the blanks is that because they are taken from a cheap mold the flash on the clips is a little much. However a little filing and that isn't a problem. I would lacquer the centre caps as well once they have all been constructed. I did it to mine this weekend and they look tons better than those photos again.

As long as they're in securely so I'm not going to lose another one I don't really care!

My lacquer is in another part of the country, so I'll clean them and do that when I'm back. Do the old caps usually just pop out?

Put it this way, these are in TIGHT! There is no way mine are going to fall out!

I would more likely damage the paint pulling them out they are that tight. I am not sure if the standard ones pop out, I would assume they do as when I bought these to refurb they didn't come with any.

If anyone knows that would be great, if in can pop them out without getting the wheel off I can do all of them up here, but if not I'll have to do one and wait to Don the others. To be honest the wheels would benefit from a refurb, but I don't have the money at the moment.

You can get the originals out without taking the wheels off as they have a slight flat spot on one side allowing you to lever them out.

Ah, good. I'll get on that, delivery estimate is Friday :)

Once again, I have a complete set of these sitting here looking sort for themselves.

I swapped them out for original bbs gold ones, then someone nicked them :( oh well.

Also I have three centres on eBay at the minute, maybe you could refurb them and swap them over?

Money's already gone out!

I just needed them quickly, I don't like how exposed it looks without them.

The caps turned up today, no sign of the stickers though. I put one on, just to cover up the hole in my wheel, and it needed a bit of filing but seems to be in there fairly solidly now!

56/52 was the right size in case anyone searches for this in the future!

no worries buddy.

there should be a grease cap on the rear hub nut. sometimes they get stuck inside the wheel when they get taking off and its not noticed.

these are a few quid each so if you concerned about it i would get one and tap it on with a hammer this way its safe from road dirt that will get stuck in the grease.

My rear hub was lagged in grease so that was the main reason I wanted to get a centre cap on there immediately.
