I love those decals so so much, but personally I think I'd cut the bit on the round bits of the front arches off so it follows the lines of the car a bit more if you get me?

Either way where did you get them from if you don't mind me asking?

Ok thanks a lot mate

I agree the decals should be trimmed around the arch curve :) looks bloody awesome this thing now! Not bad at all for a first car

also this beauty turned up today, decided to go ahead and upgrade as I've managed to crack my current downpipe around where it joins the manifold. So i thought this gave me a good excuse to upgrade. Hopefully be off on tomorrow as my car currently sounds like a tractor

80% on currently, picking up new oil filter and flexi pipe to get it 100% on.

Got a rocker cover currently being power coated so that should tidy it up more [emoji1]

if you've got a nice tidy standard bay id like so see how youve tidied wires up

Little update not much has changed on the polo, developed a fuel leak from the tank so got a new one on the way also had trouble with the manifold blowing but that was sorted pretty quickly. Just enjoying it taking it too shows and driving it! next on the list is a new exhaust as the standard doesn't look nor sound the best

Guys I'm planning a engine conversion to the polo next year and want to start collecting parts. But I'm still unsure on what to go with something tried and tested like an afh or gt or do something you rarely see (still yet to think of something), can someone point in the direction of some good threads on the issue looked on FAQ but cant seem to find what I'm after.

Thanks

any help appreciated

Gt conversion is the easiest really. It's as simple as swap everything from one car to the other and all sits in as it should without chopping or making plates etc. The conversion i bought was a complete mess and I'm a dopey idiot but even I've managed to get it running right [emoji14]

what sort of power can you run from a gt? compared to say a 1.4 afh?

Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I haven't a proper idea of what can be had, heard some people get 100hp and just over that with the 3F, AFH Is 100 out the box and I've seen much higher with proof. Not all about the numbers though, a lot of people prefer the 8v's power delivery and imo it suits the bay better.

Swings and roundabouts. AFH if you want to show off with your dyno sheet down the pub. But it's a lot more pissing about imo and also modifying or rebuilding one can be twice the expense and time. Two cams, twice as many valves etc.

Sourced a GT box for the AFH conversion but read something somewhere about someone (sorry for all the somes lol) that the final drive can be swapped out for a 8p one wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject or if this is easily done or not? as i like the short gt ratios but would want a longer final drive for motorway cruising and the gt tops out pretty short.

how I've been feeling over the past few months of polo ownership ahahha

so been a while since I updated this thread aha and since the last update the polo is currently on its 4th gearbox ajnd now has a 5speed gt box in it [emoji23] I'm not sure what happened but it decided it didn't like 4 speeds anymore and after the 3rd one died in decided to chuck the 5 speed in.

been going to a few different meets and shows and it's now in winter mode while the bbs get refurbished and repainted

I have also purchased some ford rs turbo recaros to go in and I sourced some zender side skirts that will be up for sale soon as they don't look how I wanted them to on the car [emoji24]

not much planned for this year other than the seats and winding the coilovers down [emoji13] ive put the engine swap back till next year as I want to do a full "build" on the little polo

Be interested to see what it's like once you fitted all that because I'm hoping to do a very similar thing ASAP

I wouldn't bother swapping the head unless you need to do the head gasket or something. The head on your engine is the same as a 1.3 head. The only difference between this and a GT head in reality is the double valve springs. The ports on a GT head are slightly bigger but we are talking 1 or 2mm at most. The valve sizes are the same. For the work involved in swapped the head I doubt there are any gains to be had from that alone.

I'd just stick the GT cam in your head and leave it at that.

Power wise it depends on how well the carbs are set up and what jets you are using. Ideally getting them set up on a rolling road by a place that knows how to tune carbs will see the best results.

Been over a year since an update thought it was about time.

Kept using the polo as a daily and to goto shows

Then took the polo off the road and bought a daily. a tidy 320ci thats doing me well so far.

How it sits atm, i've decided its time to get some work done on it and my motivation is back. The end goal is to get it rust free, repainted, new seats, suspension revamped, new engine and alot lower!!

20180527_132453.jpeg.52f4e382f46031f0757bfb9a86a0fc07.jpeg

If anyone can point me in the direction of where i can get new panels from that would be a great help. Hopefully keep these updates fairly regular when i get some work done on it.
