I've recently bought my old Polo GTI back, figured I needed a project due to excessive spare time.

Just a quick question.

When should the cam belt be replaced? I've heard numerous stories.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

First of all welcome to the forum, nice to see someone else local.

I believe the standard for a cam belt change is every 60,000 miles or every 5 years which ever comes first.

If in doubt I would just do it. £30 on a belt etc. and a days graft is a lot better than a full engine rebuild.

Shouldn't pose any major problem used to be a Nissan master tech.

Used to own the car years ago but was offered it back. Thought I'd might as well.

No really sure what my plans are for it but I'm open to ideas lol.
