Derby grill eyebrow fitting

Featured Replies

fellow derby grill people

I've had a derby front lying around for a while with the chrome strip eyebrow thing that screws into the underside of the bonnet

being a later mk2 it has just got the 4 square holes ( 2 on each side ) for it to fix to, i take it there should be a fitting inside the small square holes for a self tapper or similar?

Anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks :)

Yep. Self tapper is what you need. Just screws through the plastic brackets (most of mine are snapped :-( ) and into the bonnet

can you still buy the plastic bracket things? can't see any other way to fit the eyebrow without them tbh :(

Aren't they moulded into the trim?

I'm going to 'remake' mine using GRP when I get round to it

Right, I now see what your talking about. Are you brackers okay on the trim?

you need some really short but fat self tappers i think

ill get some pictures when I'm next at the car.

thanks for the replies guys :)

Originally there would have been square section plastic 'rawlplugs' in the bonnet that accepted small self tapping screws. Unfortunately over time these plastic bits drop apart (they did on my own early mk2 saloon when swapping bonnets).

sounds about right vic, do you know if they're still available?

Sorry, I don't but would hazard a guess at unlikely. Can't see those plastic rawlplugs used anywhere else on the car either. Vagcat should provide a part no though.
