Getting this weird sound when my car usually comes to a stop. Any ideas on what it could be? (Apologies for the poor video) Could it be a suspension issue perhaps? Only started happening somewhat recently and is doing it all the time now, before it would do it pretty rarely. It's towards the end of the video, the car is a 2003 1.4 tdi Polo SE.

When I first read your notes, I wondered if it might be from the brakes, but after playing your video several times, it doesn't sound like a brake noise to me - That doesn't mean that it ISN'T from the brakes - it may just be the way that it sounds.

I would suggest that first of all, you check that the wheel bolts are tight.

After that, I would jack up the car, get it on axle stands, remove the road wheels and check for a broken suspension spring (that was the impression that I got from your video) When these break, it is generally just the first coil or so from the end of the spring that breaks, so you need to inspect it VERY carefully, or you could overlook it.

If the springs are OK, I would suggest that you check that the brake pads and discs are in good order.

Let us know what you find, if the problem is still there, we will have another think.
