Sol's GT swapped Bready

Featured Replies

Finally got myself a polo mk2f, was only up the road from me too. Up here hard to find any decent ones, and they very rarely come up so I wasn't really even planning on getting one but since this had the GT swap done just went and bought it. £300 and it came with the original 1L engine and loads of bits and bobs that I sold on to make the total price of the purchase £200. Which is not bad for a breadvan with a GT engine with lowering shocks and springs!

List of jobs:

Running like crap

Full service

Hang exhaust

Strip clean interior

Fit new front brakes

Bleed brakes

New wheels

Paint and clean battery tray

New battery

Bonnet lifters

Paint slam panel and bar

Paint bonnet

Lower rear end

How it looked when I got it

Car ran like crap, so re-did the vac line and removed charcoal canister. Then went about prepping the slam panel and front end for spraying as it had some rust.

Colour match was okay! Painted the slam bar and got clear indicators.

Went about porting and polishing the throttle body since it was an easy job.

Found some BBS RA's (15s) on ebay for £100, no one bidded apart from me so that was a good deal.. Took a day to get to Inverness and back!

Sometimes 1 polo isn't enough..

After a fuel filter change which hadn't been done in 4 years and new vac line + temp sensor car ran pretty good. TPS is still buggered but it's usable, just have to open the throttle slowly it cuts out.

Got it out the shed for the first time..

After job list was complete got the car out for its first wash! And then T cut, polish and wax. Turned out not bad.

Finally got tyres for the RAs, pretty much the finished! Apart from the MOT... Which will be next week hopefully! Not sure how long i'll be keeping this though, insurance runs out in a few days for my 9n polo, and want to get a TDI golf next rather than insuring the 9n again, so both polos will be getting sold :( But after a month of driving the breadvan, then i'll sell it!

Anyway, heres the final product :)

Good work, looks like a really clean shell. Love that colour too.

That looks fab, wheels really suit it.

Ah, so you got Struans breadvan! Pity he never finished it.

I think you've got this spot on! The RAs suit it very well.

Yeah I actually sold some wheels to a guy who knew him too haha! This car has been about like!

And thanks for the help kwijibo! Is a very nice car.
