Are Hans pries any good?

Does it matter much which brand of track rod ends you get?

Febi Bilstein or Lemforder are good.

I thought HansPries were better at plastic items like fluid reservoirs. I suppose they just buy in parts and put them in a Topran box.

The garage that changed my wishbone ( I chickened out doing it my self) ended up putting the wishbone on the wrong side of the car.

I got there and I was like "whooa whoaa whoaa what's going on here"

They then put it on the driver side and now the tracking is so bad the car pulls me back when I try to turn right.

What I don't understand is the last two times a mechanic has changed my wishbone the steering wheel has been straight and no pulling.

Was that sheer luck?

Anyway I then took the car to kwik fit and they did everything they could but the driver side rod end was seized.

They said it needs a:

1) NEW ARM

2 ) ROD END

All work fitted £150.00

I'm abit gutted because last time the wishbones were fitted tracking was not needed so the seized track end was left alone.

They say the arm will have the threads ruined, same with the rod end.

That's a lot of money!

A complete set of new arms and ends for both sides should only set you back £50 roughly.

They don't take long to fit and then the tracking is easy.

kwik fit is the problem , they will always try and sting for extra stuff and charge way too much for it

Just read on elsawin if left hand ball joint is removed then right hand track dimension needs reseting.

So the cock up by the mechanic has cost me big time.

No wonder the last two times the driver side wishbone has been replaced it's been good to drive (alignment straight)

I've bought a new arm n joint.

They say it's all seized so where I have circled it red. Do I just twist it from there and the whole thing including the arm should screw offf?

spanner on the flats at the left hand end of the pic and it will unscrew , can be super tight too

Right I'm gunna have a go at this my self lol.

So

1) Undo silver clip.

2) Slide bellow rubber housing off.

3) Undo rod end nut at wheel side

4) leave rod end adjuster nut because it is seized.

5) Undo steering arm from steering rack arm - the one steve says can be tight

6) Before taking it off take measurements

7) install new arm with rod end with same measurments

8) Slide rubber bellow housing over where it should be

9) silver clip it back

10) Take to kwik fit and let them track it properly on computer system for £45.00

Is this all there is to it ?
