Mk2f polo coupe genesis

Featured Replies

For sale 1.3 SPI Polo Coupe Genesis Edition.

I have owned this for just over a year now, I originally bought this as a car to run around while my other car was off the road, but I instantly fell in love with this and couldn't bear to sell it. Now however circumstances have changed and I cannot justify owning two cars.

As it is a genesis model it comes standard with the 3 spoke steering wheel and the clocks with a rev counter. It also comes with the tartan seats that only featured in the genesis. The car has a factory fitted (not dealer fitted) sliding sunroof, which is body colour to the rest of the car which doesn't leak and has no evidence of ever leaking.

Since my ownership it has been looked after by a VW technician and has been regularly serviced. I got the car with no real service history apart from knowing it had a new fuel tank and had been fully undersealed just before I got it. So I gave it a major service including, oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and HT leads.

It has also had the following in my ownership;

Lowered 80/60 on TA Technix springs and shockers

Cambelt and waterpump

Thermostat, housing, and all seals/bolts

Alternator belt

Front discs and pads

2x rear wheel cylinders

Rear brake pipes

Brake master cylinder

2x front bottom arms/TCA's

Passenger and driver's outer CV joints

Ignition coil

Distributor, cap and rotor arm

Clutch

Clutch cable

Reconditioned gearbox with new oil

Selector shaft seal

Passenger rear wheel bearing

Both front wheel bearings

Exhaust centre pipe (I had the centre box cut and a straight pipe welded in)

Re-undersealed

GT arch and sill trims professionally fitted

Rear lights tinted all red

2x front tyres

The front tyre treads are currently between 5/6mm and the rears are on 3mm (I can put two new tyres on the back if asking price is met)

I have had the coolant flushed and replenished with VW's G13 coolant as that is meant to be better for corrosion properties on the engine, I also flushed out the gearbox oil after driving 500 miles with the new gearbox to ensure it was clean. It has been serviced 7 times since I bought it as I like the engine oil to remain golden. And the brake fluid has been changed.

As a car this little thing is fantastic! it is great fun to drive, and very comfortable for journeys. My place of work is a 40 mile round trip and I cannot complain about comfort. These are getting rare now unfortunately, but I honestly believe this is one of the nicest examples out there, it needs to be seen in person as the pictures do it no justice. There are a few chips and small dents here and there but the car is 22 years old! There are a few areas where the paint has been scratched and previous owners have touched it in, but without looking for it you can't tell. The back bumper has a scuff on the passenger side corner which never really bothered me. Both doors are beginning to rust unfortunately at the bottom, I believe it is a common area for these, but I do have two immaculate doors (would need painting as they are red) which could be included in the sale if asking price is met. Current mileage is 91930, but this will rise as I use this car daily.

Bad points apart from the few body work issues are:

The starter motor grinds on start up, but this is something else that hasn't bothered me, nor caused any issue

The anti roll bar can rub slightly on the exhaust manifold when setting off from traffic

The clocks have a small crack in the top left corner

The driver's side steering arm can knock on the brake servo if you hit a pothole

The headliner has a small tear smaller than a 5 pence piece

Please note: the boot does have a carpet, but it is not in the picture as I was trying to show the spare wheel/tools

That is all I can think of, but as I have said this car needs to be viewed in person to believe how well it has been kept by myself and the previous owners.

I also have lots of spare parts for this including a stainless 4 branch manifold, lots of interior trims and many more which could all be including in the sale if asking price is met.

Price: £1000ono

Location: York

Thanks for looking
