Hi are mk2 bread rear speakers 6x4 and can anyone recommend me any or sell me any for a reasonable price. Also what do people do about front speakers as there currently isn't anywhere to fit any. Cheers Ben

yeah 6x4 , lots of folk use the jbl ones

for the front you can run a single in the dash or cut the door panels to fit something you like

Does anyone know of and cheaper makes for rear speakers ? I will be fitting then in original location not rear parcel shelf..

There was someone on here a while back, offering to manufacture and sell speaker mounts for the front doors of Mk2 Polos. His finished items looked smart enough.

I really do not want door pod speakers I need them in the rear speaker shelf and not the boot shelf...so need to be the same size as original ones ..

I really don't recommend cutting your door cards at all, I did that to mine and very quickly regretted it. I have a coupe s with very cool black and red trim throughout, I am having an impossible time finding replacements that match now. Also I'd put mine in the back end of the door which resulted in the speakers being jolted every time I shut the doors and I regularly had to tighten the screw fittings.

I am currently watching a set of speakers on eBay that may be the sort of thing you're after. I'll post the link when I get home this evening.

No problem, I'm thinking personally I'm going to have 6x4 speakers in the original mounts (the left and right parcel shelf mount) then I'm going to make up speaker boxes to put two more in, one under each front seat some how. I'm not sure how yet but I'll take the seats out and see how best to do it.

Yes snap but no speakers under the seat for me..

dont think theres room to put anything decent under the seats , you could consider 6x9s in a box and have them behind the seats or in the boot , then remove when you need the space ?

Are these the ones people were refering to, and are they a perfect fit in a mk2 (1986) coupe. Just cos the advert says "vw polo coupe 1990 - 1994" but they'll be the same won't they?

I am currently fitting the rear speakers to mine. I am mega cheap on this one as I know they will never sound anything like what I'm used to.

I went round a breakers yard armed with a screwdriver and found only one car that also have 6x4 speakers. It was a daewoo matiz and they are a lot newer and seem pretty good and look almost factory fitted.

The mounting holes will need opening up though as they are slightly off.

I'm happy with how they fit and especially because they were free, I'd say normally £5 the pair because daewoo

I haven't wired them up just yet but I expect they will be better then nothing.

As for the front side, have you thought of using those speaker pods that most cars used to have on the rear shelves back in the 90's. Usually had something like 3 way bass reflex etc written on them. One on each end of the dash. Use double sided tape so easily removable.. Just a thought
