I see no reason why it couldnt be done,

At a guess you would need:

Steering Rack, Pipes, Pump, Fluid resovoir (probably come with pipes), a few bolts and a new AUX belt

it should therotically all bolt on?

Thanks dude :) so it should just bolt on ?

If it's a 1.0 litre there is pressure switch that'll need wiring into the ECU

You will need a different mounting bracket for the alternator/PAS pump

Yea it's a 1.0 litre, easy enough job ?

You might be lucky and find the connector tied up under the battery area, if not, you'll need to run a single wire to the ECU and another to a local ground

as nige8021 says, the 1.0 would have a pressure switch fitted, how ever, finding the pressure pipe with the sensor fitting will be very difficult because power steering would have been an optional extra putting the sale price nearer the 1.4 so most would have gone for that.

that said, most 6n2 with the 1.0 had PS, so getting the bits of that would be ideal.

ideally you want the to drop the cross member and remove the hubs etc (or keep them if from a 16v and use the bigger brakes?) trying to remove the rack will normally end it at least 2 snapped bolts. there is 1 13mm bolt holding the column on from inside. 4 16mm bolts holding the cross member on and the lower engine mount has to come off. the gear linkage is also fixed to the top.

the pipes are actually pretty tricky to get off with the engine in place. release from both ends and you might be able to wiggle them off.

I'm pretty sure the alternator bracket is the same? i have only seen variations for air con. you will need the pump though, remove the pulley (3 allen bolts) then there are 3 13mm bolts, 2 behind the pulley and one from the other side.

the only difference between 6n and 6n2 power steering is the reservoir 6n has it on the front panel and 6n2 has it up by the shock turret you can use either just get the 6n2 bracket if using that, makes no difference to operation. pipes to and from it are also different

avoid using a lupo rack, looks the same but is totally different. stick to polo for the rack (spoken from experience)

if you go ahead with it, i would really recommend fitting new track rod ends, and if needed new tie rods as they are super easy to fit when the rack is off. new copper seals are a good idea too.
