I recently bought some brand new wheels, they came with a set of 57.1mm spigot rings

However, they are not a slide on fit on my hubs

Measured one with digital calipers and it was measuring 56.75-56.8mm ID

I measured a brand new hub and that was measuring 57.09mm OD just above the radiused part of the hub and 56.95 further out.

So clearly they are smaller than the hub.

I think the issue is caused by ridges on the inside surface (like on an oil seal) I've not seen this on spigot rings before. Googling I couldn't find any more that looked this way

The supplier of the wheels and spigot rings claims that they haven't had any problems with spigot rings before. I have been offered another set, but the general feeling i'm getting is that its somehow my fault because he asked me to measure what size I need and he will make the right size. What I need is 57.1 which is what they should be.

They are also quite a loose fit in the wheels. They don't clip in or hold in like other wheels I've had. I was told once the wheel was tightened up they'd be ok.

Anyone else had this much bother with spigot rings?

In theory (and in practice) you don't need them but they make life a lot easier! :-D

In my experience with them they should be a tight fit inside the wheel and a looser fit on the hub. As long as it mostly keeps the wheel centred whilst you do up the bolts in a X fashion the bolt and bolt seat will centre the wheel.

Basically it sound't like they've sent the wrong ones..

That's exactly my previous experience with them as well.

They have 57.1mm embossed on the back of them so they look like the correct ones. They are at the very most 56.99mm on the back edge, not taking into account the ridges inside.

Currently waiting to see what he says about all the information I've gathered but so far he's been convinced somehow that it's my car that's wrong.

I'm not saying he hasn't tried to help, but it's been quite frustrating getting the point across for some reason.

I'm guessing its like when you are phone up tech support and they have to run though all the steps even though you've already done them. And the conclusion is that there is a problem.. durrr I know that's why I phoned you! :-D

Yeah I guess so! Gotta account for the numpties...

I was able to contact another customer who had been supplied spigot rings of a different colour so that suggests they've been using different ones and perhaps I'm the first customer of these ones.
