Polo 6R Sat Nav Unit

Featured Replies

Hi all

recently sold my 6n2 and picked up a 6R polo, the current heading unit is the standard cd head unit with bluetooth and ipod connection as i was just wondering if anyone has gone about swapping this out with a sat nav version I believe its the RNS 315 head unit, If so was it difficult is it the kind of thing due to the age of the car that it might be best to get a proper VW garage to do If i sourced the head unit?

thanks

Dan

Having fitted a VW sat nav unit to Matt01's 6N2 the only extra connections were to the ABS for more accurate sensing, as yours will be connected to the vehicles CAN bus system so the ABS data (wheel speeds) will be already available @ the main radio connector, the standard install for the GPS uses the combined roof aerial for the GPS signal & radio, it also uses another FM aerial using the heated rear window element and that needs two filter networks in the power & ground wires to the window heating element and another amplifier for the signal from the heater element
