I wanted to put a tow bar on my mk3 coupe to make it easier to load up for holidays but wanted to find out if anyone has done this, how they done and and the best parts to use?

There was one available i know of, i took one off at a breakers but the guy wanted silly money for it. To be fair on him it weighed a ton..

It was a 'proper' conversion, but though well made it was basically a slightly bent scaffold bar bolted to the bumper mounts with short arms (tucked just under the bumper) and with long arms to the rear chassis legs, where they were bolted through to little tray plates in the boot.

Somewhere in the region of 99% of the downforce would've been on the two M8 bumper threads. The for/aft load spread over all four points, but we're talking strictly a light luggage trailer - i wouldn't have wanted to pull a twin-axle motorbike trailer with it, let alone a caravan.
