mk2f 1.3 Rear end feels loose

Featured Replies

Right, Happened recently when driving at motorway speeds or when i get up over 40

it feels as though the steering's delayed and its moving around like the rear end is on

ice and is delayed from when i actually turn the steering wheel.

Recently put brand new top mounts in front (Audi 80) and also rear top mounts in,

hasn't ever felt like it before and is worrying to drive as it feels as though something

is loose and moving around when driving at any substantial speed!

Any help would be great,

Tom.

Check everything's tight, then go for a (free if possible) wheel alignment check.

I'd have a close look at the pivot bushes on the rear beam

Fair point, they're not known for wearing out, but anything's possible over 20-odd years.

I'd be thinking that it's toeing in though if anything, that can make it feel as if the back end's a bit keen.

Would it be anything to do with fitting the audi 80 topmounts up front as I've

heard they're too big in terms of bearing race size for the polo's shock?

Wouldn't be a stripped hub thread could it as i replaced a bolt as it wouldn't tighten up and when i took it out the thread looked rather f****d?
