Hi my polo is lowered 70mm all round what profile tyres are people running on a set of alloys as I have bought some alloys with I believe a 185 profile but are too wide any info greatly appreciated the alloys are 14" thanks

What is the exact tyre size you have on just now? 185 is just the section, the number after that is the profile size and the number after that is the rim size. So on your exsisting tyres you should see 185/60/R14 for example.

Also what width are the alloys? As we could advise a smaller section size but if your wheels are like 7 or 8 inches wide then you may have issues.

Assuming you have basic VW spec 5.5 or 6 inch wheels I'd say a 185/50/R14 or 175/50/R14 would be tyre sizes to look into.

The tyre size is 185 60 14 and they are 6.5j alloys

Right ok, those tyres are a Golf size so no wonder you are having issues with them on a Polo.

Chuck some 185/50/14 tyres on them and you should be perfect, it is 1mm off standard tyre size so perfect for the speedo and they are a nice low profile too. Plus if you can find a set of Yoko A539 tyres in that size they look cool. But they have been discontinued for a while now.

The et is 33

Front will be fine, rear might struggle since you have a breadvan, I had to fold the arch lip back on mine to get the Wellers to fit.

I'd try them on with the bigger tyres and see what happens at the rear first.

I have a set of 14" baby g60 i am refurbing for my breadvan. It's stock hight and the wheels have 195/60s on at the moment will i struggle with the tyre size or do you recommend as different tyre ?

Standard height you should just get away with it mate but lowered you might have some problems

195/60/14 will be a massive tyre for a Polo. Its even slightly bigger than a mk2/3 Golf wheel!

For 14s there is no better size than a 185/50/14. Perfect Polo size I think assuming this is on a mk2(f)?

Yes its for mk2f and the tyre came with the wheels when I brought them but before I try fitting them to the car thought I ask.. so now I know I shall get the smaller tyre..

175/50 is a nice low profile but on standard height they might look a little lost. I aslo have 185/50s and 195/45s on other wheels and they all look good. On a 14" rim too.
