what looks better?

Featured Replies

I've recently changed the standard chrome badges on my 6r to glossy black and red ones, and well as fiddling around with the lettering on the car.

I'm just so torn about what looks best, and I don't want to keep sticking things on then rebadging it again, so your opinions would really help!

this is how my car currently looks-

I think the black badges look cool, would remove all the others though if it was mine :)

My opinion is keep the outer parts of badge black but change the inner ones to colour match the car instead of the red. Not a fan of the devil horns or whatever they are either but each to there own

Thank you! I wanted something different! I did fully debadge it atone point but thought everyone would think it's just a 1.2!

Yeah that would've good! How would I do the inner bits the same colour as the car? I only done red as my front badge is red and black as well. Funny you said about the devil as after I uploaded this I actually removed them haha

I mean on the VW emblem as apose to the worded badges

that's what I was talking about haha

Oh my bad, I would just get a fine paintbrush and a touch up pot of your colour code and do it that way

Ok thank you I'll bear that in mind :)

As long as the devil horns are removed I think you're onto a winner :)

Did you say this was a 1.6? I didn't even know they did a 1.6 TDi 6r.

Anyway, fuck it if people think it's a 1.2. To be honest, joe public isn't going to care about your car so have it how you like.

Yeap a 1.6 tdi sel haha, and true that haha

Looks good how it is. Or if you wanted the boot badges to blend in, spray them the same colour as the car. Or take it all off, let people think whatever they want and get a straight through exhaust like mine ;) Plus you get a whistle when you let off the throttle haha

I bet you do! I'm new to all the car business.. What does a straight through exhaust do? I also love how low your car is I want to do that to mine!

A straight through exhaust is basically a chimney haha. Theres no catalytic converters and no silencers. So just a empty pipe. It will allow your engine to work a lot more freely which is better for performance and it'll change the tone of the exhaust too. On diesels it's cool as duck! Makes the car sounds awesome on full throttle but quite whilst cursing and you can hear the turbo spooling (working)..BUT you'll fail a mot without the catalytic converter.. :-( I'm building a new stainless steel exhaust for the car so it should sound even cooler! As for lowering get a coilover kit and go from there. Iv'e got an AP kit in this car and it's pretty comfortable..

oh right ok, mine sounds like a truck as it is I doubt it will ever sound sexy! And my cousin has a straight through exhaust and passes his MOT but lets just say he's pretty friendly with the guys who do it haha! And ahh right ok I don't think I'll be doing anything to my car this year except tinting

Not entirely true. A certain amount of back pressure is required and by removing this you may see a reduction in performance over a well designed system.

I thought in turbos you didn't want any back pressure, just in superchargers...But i've never had a proper exhaust, just home made ones so your right!

You may indeed be correct, I didn't consider the turbo. I suppose excessive back pressure will prevent the turbo from spooling, introducing additional lag.
