I've also noticed that it's now a colour alternating banner. Very trick Dean.

I like the banner too. Be good to have a line up like that at the social if we could get one of every mk including the facelifts? One thing I will say though is the new Polo's need to lay off the pie

  • Oo I didn't know there was a Mk1f until now! Does this mean my Mk2f that's a Mk3 is actually a Mk4 and we have to reorder everything up to Mk9?

Looks like it.

I like the new banner as well. Its quite welcoming to members who own the newer versions.

This site can be a bit focused on the 20th century models but I don't mind that to be honest.

I like it, I just presumed facelift models too. It's a nice touch though!

Agreed ^^

I'd say the Mk2f is the nicest-looking out of all the Polos. The Mk2's too square and the Mk3's too round IMO. I'm kinda biased though

Wheres the 6n2, but all round, looks damn nice!

Thanks guys!

I will be bringing my camera and tripod. I'm no professional but love photography, so I would like to take some photos of each model of the polo lined up. Front view, front/side view as per banner and a few others. If we could get everyone interested to supply their car and wouldn't mind having the picture on our rotating banner let the staff know! I'll come and find everyone on the Saturday and we'll save some space to do a few shoots. Can do the same for Sunday but I won't be there.

I'll happily provide my mk2f GT for the shoot. However mine is lowered and on 15" BBS RA's so if you find one more standard / better condition then feel free to use that.

Surely because the MK2f is the facelift of the MK2, the 6n2 is the facelift of the 6n and the 9n3 is a facelift of the 9n.

The original MK's are in the banner, I am bias as my favorite is the MK2F (MK3 to me :)) but either way I'm loving the 40 Year banner!

No one will notice if I slip my scirocco in the picture?!

Try it :P

VW...Chassis..Club Polo

Mk1/f.. 86....Mk1

mk2.... 86c.. Mk2

Mk2f... 86c.. Mk3

Mk3.... 6n... Mk4

Mk3f... 6n2.. Mk5

Mk4.... 9n... Mk6

Mk4f... 9n3.. Mk7

Mk5.... 6R... Mk8

Hopefully that will confuse you even more haha, mount of times I got caught of guard when at the garage and I say I want so and so for the mk4, and they reply back to me; 'you mean the mk3?' We count every different polo as a different marque, where as VW didn't.

Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Mk4, Mk5, Mk6, Mk7

As VW see it

Mk1, Mk2, Mk2F, Mk3, Mk3F, Mk4, Mk4F

Many here count the shape changes as marks, though the marks were generally set for generation changes.

But in each generation, there was one major re-vamp/facelift of the same car. Each has its own chassis code.

So of the first generation shell, there was a..

MK1 - '75-79

And a minor facelift..

MK1f - '78-82 (aka MK1)

And on with the second generation..

MK2 - '82-90

Which had a substantial technical re-vamp in '86 but this isn't marked in any way but for the engine type. It then had a facelift in '90,along with emissions control fueling but nothing more substantial technically, and this was marked..

MK2F - '90-94 (aka MK3)

Then the all-new third generation,chassis code 6n..

MK3 - '94-99 (aka MK4)

Facelifted and now galvanised as the 6n2..

MK3F - '99-02 (aka MK5)

Then VW introduced the bulky yet initially cutey-styled 9n chassis..

MK4 - '02-06 (aka MK6)

And it obviously got a facelift - 9n2/3..

MK4F - '06-09 (aka MK7)

And now there's a brand new fifth generation body..

MK5 - '09-present (aka MK8)

And now we have the more recent shapes.....

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much indeed.

Aww the poor mk1f, wasn't good enough to be called the mk2 :cray:

The banner is actually pretty cool (but I didn't see white there yet... :( )

Added a coloured one instead.

Like having the rotating banner back :)
