polo saloon and polo derby bootlids the same?

Featured Replies

my first post on here! :D new to polos i have a mk2 golf that I've spent a fortune on now I'm scared to ruin it so picked up a polo saloon to restore and enjoy

The bootlid has had a ding at some stage and has been filled so rather than throw more fillers at it i thought id replace it. dont seem to be available in repo and vw classic are showing one for a derby at 146 euro and one for the saloon at 168 euro with two different part numbers surely they are the same rear lid

can anybody shed a little light on the subject thanks

If your after a mk2 or 2f boot then theres some in the sale section..

Afraid not. Mk1 - 1f are one part, Mk2 - 2f are another. They're a totally different size and shape.

Is a derby only in the mk1 polo then?

Edited by oakgreenwithenvy

In the UK, the Mk1 Saloon was sold as the Derby, the Mk2 was sold as the Polo Classic. Some people use the Derby name to describe the 2, and it was sold as this to start with in some markets.

It's a bit like in some places the Vento, Bora and Jetta had the other name at different times to the UK.

If your after a mk2 or 2f boot then theres some in the sale section..
