You do what you like. At the end of the day it's your car. I look forward to seeing its progress. Cheers, Scott.

vans are quite rare and change hands for good money, you've knocked quite a bit of its value

don't do any more bodges

Cheers,

bodges? I'm smoothing the arches to make them look nice again , it was tatty as hell when i bought it so in my eyes I've improved it...

bodge as in wheels were bought and then discovered that they wont fit the rear so the mole grips came out and adjusted them, the smoothing was then needed to clean up the work

all the info you need about fitting wheels to a breadvan is online

one guywent to extreme lenghts and did a round arch conversion

looks like you have some camber on the rear, 2 washers behind the stub axel? you'll loose a wheel like that, has happened before on the forum

people have paid £1000 for a van and not even a minter, its entirly possible to do the things you want to the van without causing permenent damage, when your done take your bits off and move it on with some decent money in your pocket.

careless moding will just needlesly take money away from what you have till its only worth scrap its like bying a bigmac meal with a £20 and throwing the change away

Lay off the lad Kiran. Your not giving his thread a positive start. Jack can eat his big mac and throw away the change if he wants. It's his big mac and his change. Your also presuming that he's selling it on at some point.

Jack, I like what your doing. Keep at it. There aren't many modified vans kicking about so it would be nice to see one or two. Are you going to the polo show?

At the end of the day I built this for me not anyone else :) I bought the car for £200 .... The arches doesn't bother me , this is a temp measure until I decide to go round arches and the camber I've ran the same before on a previous car and never had a issue , I'm using longer bolts etc .... Anyways , thank you Doug umm I may be but I am getting it to volksfest Bristol in 2 weeks :)

Looks better than it did matte green anyway! Keep at it, but definitely tidy those arches up.

Looks sweet mate, I've got one on the go myself. What drop you gone for front and rear?

Fair play to you wasn't like it was a show car to start with - but defiantly worth keeping on the road.

It's your car, you paid for it, do what you want to it. I don't see why Kiran is hating so much.

I will say however that using washers to gain camber is dangerous and you should really look into camber shims.

But keep up the hard work. I'm sure it will turn into a great little Polo.

Arches don't look too bad, at least from a distance. Can't see in much detail. What's the overall plan for paint?

  • Author

overall plan was to make it rustic and old which I've done already :) kind of haha

Looks very nice! I like the way the wheels match the roof. Would look better with a painted wing though.

I like the white cable ties for the front splitter.

I'd say painted wing would finish it off and then it would look good. :)

This looks awesome pal! Keep it up

Nice to see you put your own style to it :) live the vans,I regret the day I sold my one

As friendly as the VW community as, there are a lot of 'purists'. I'm quite enjoying this one to be honest. More updates!

I like that, back arches could be a bit tidier, but it ain't bad. I'm yet another member of the "why did I sell my van" club :(
