Here's a few pictures of my first car, a 1999 6n polo 1.0L

All I've done so far is change the headlights and indicators, but this Wednesday I shall be changing tailights to green magic colour hella ones (until I can find a set of blue ones ;__; ) and fitting the heckblende.

I'm currently also in the process of removing the bump strips. Anyone got any tips on removing the glue? It's proving to be a pain in the ass :')

I've never had to remove the glue for my bump strips because it went in for a respray. But people have said a toffee wheel is really good for it.

Mine came off with a petrol soaked rag, old credit card and plenty of elbow grease, but the "toffee wheel" seems to be the easiest method :)

Cheers, will have to give that a go. Don't fancy using a petrol soaked rag as the paintwork is clean as anything, and don't want to ruin it, but thanks for the idea anyway.

Petrol didn't damage the paintwork (mine was the same colour as yours)

Loos lovely would look better if wheel trims went.

I just bought a set of 6n2 GTI wheels yesterday, they were corroded, so I'm in the process of stripping down however many layers of paint which previous owners had put on over the corrosion , re-polishing the lips and repainting them after sanding away the corrosion, will get more pictures up when done.

Fitted the heckblende (everyone hates them. I think they're cool :') ) and green hella tail lights.. still hunting for blue ones

Also, bump strips are gone! Hah, looks so much better :)

Bump strips being taken off makes a huge difference! Just make sure you park away from other cars so they don't smash their door into yours

Been a long long time since I last posted anything here! Been busy with college and A levels right now are a pain.

So, since the last post, I've fitted VR6 mk3 golf leathers, and finally got a pair of the blue hella tail lights! (winner!)

 

 

 

As you can see I also got some 16v bumpers which I attempted to smooth but found out I cant work with fiberglass for sh*t so gave up, and have now knocked it out again.

 

Here are some pictures of the sides without the bumpstrips and a bit of a polish - not gunna lie, the paintwork is better than I thought compared to when I first got it.

 

I've also got the polo 6n2 dash parts ready to go in, but that will probably be a summer job for after exams, and I'm collecting a pair of audi tt blue full leathers in pretty decent this weekend so hopefully going to be amazing when it's all done! Planning to do a full false floor build from the boot to the back of the front seats and removing the rears and possibly a showcage if I can get my hands on one for cheap. :P

 

The GTI wheels I bought were absolutely f*cked and full of filler, painted with hammerite, so I managed to find a brand new set, but the lips on two wheels were covered in whiteworm but only cost me ~£200 to get that sorted out. 

Pictures will arrive when fitted to the car but really have had no time to do anything to the car.

Also I got a lovely nice lupo 3L steering wheel and airbag through the post which only set me back £250 which I didn't think was too bad considering hardly anywhere sells them with airbags due to them activating during crashes ect, so will be fitting that soon. 

 

Hopefully another update end of next week as I have a week off to do as I please! Yay!
