GT Engine wiring diagram

Featured Replies

I'm currently in the middle of wiring my GT engine and the wiring looks like its been hacked to bits, just wondering if anyone had any fuse box/bay wiring diagrams just to simplify things?

Cheers

I'm guessing some of you on here will know the wires just by there matching and colour, heres a pic of one of the ends I'm struggling with, it has no connector...

there is a RED/WHITE, RED/BROWN and a RED/BLACK

Where on the loom are they? First thing that came to mind was the radiator fan plug.

If I could see the whole loom I'd probably be able to tell you what you have and don't have.

In the back of my mind i thought it was the Rad fan... i had brief memories of the fan being wired dodgey... this just confirms it, thanks very much! More pics to come ha, cheers

Just checked a loom I have sitting in the house. Rad fan switch is what they connect up to. Rad fan itself has the same colours just one is solid brown.

ah ok mate, that makes sense, ill have a look for the actual rad fan loom...

Another thing I'm struggling to figure out is this part... not entirely sure what it is or what it does...

Thanks again

I have checked both rad switch and rad fan loom and they match up exactly as you said... only thing being is i must be running the CL rad, both plugs are 2 pin on the rad/fan and the GT loom is both 3 pins, is there anything i can do to rewire these in?

That picture above looks like the interior fan gubbins.

You'll need to find someone selling a GT/G40 fan and the fan switch you can buy new from the likes of ECP.

If it is the fan switch wiring, the Red/Brown is the live supply from the fusebox goes to pin 3 of the switch & the Red/White wire goes from pin 2 of the switch to the fan

Right I'm almost there, just a couple more and i should be fully labelled up...

this first one is right next to the coil? cant think what else is in that area of the bay... Wires are BROWN, BLACK/RED, BLACK...

The next are these two plugs, not a clue where they go but they are the only plugs of this type...

The larger one is BROWN, GREEN/BLACK, GREEN, GREEN/YELLOW, BLACK/WHITE

The smaller one is BROWN/YELLOW and BROWN

I cant thank you all enough for the help, making life alot easier

The 3 pin one next to the coil plug goes into the headlight loom.

The small 2 pin plug is for the brake reservoir cap and the larger 5 pin one is for the wiper motor.

I also have these 3 plugs, but after the last comment i think the right hand side plug is also something to with the headlights as the plug is the same as the above top picture... could they be fore fog lamps? there doesnt seem to be anywhere for the plugs to go

The bottom left on the above image is the Horn.... So its just the top left white connector, wires YELLOW/WHITE and BROWN...

The very last one is this one BROWN and BROWN/WHITE and is very close to the block connectors which holds the lambda probe etc (can see in the pic)

Hopefully this thread will help other people understand the basic loom, thanks

White connector is what you would plug the front fog light loom into.

The black with the 2 brown wires I think is the black temp sender?

  • Author

I think i have the 2 temp sendors sorted, is there suppose to be a wire to the header tank? My tank doesnt have an actual sensor in it? But could that be what that last 2 pin wire is?

That's it header tank. Yeah just the GT and G40s came with sensors on the header tank. You can pick up new ones from ECP or GSF.

Is it necessary or is it just for instrument panel?

Without it the coolant light on the dash will be constantly on.

  • Author

Ok thanks thats easy enough to aort out... I'm 95% sorted now, just need to know where i can get a switch live for my mk2 coil as I'm running bike carbs?

I'm still struggling to figure out which plug this is next to the coil, i have all the headlight loom together so cant see it going into the headlight loom?

i probably wont need it but if anyone knows what it actually is would be a great help

is the horn in place? my car is at the garage or i'd have a look for you

Yeh kiran the horn is in place, it doesn't seem to link to anywhwere, it was a long time ago since i had everything in the bay so I'm not sure what was near the coil?

it connects to a metal bracket, i think it may be the injection loom that joins it there should be a long wire and plug hanging about distributer part of the loom
