Golf VR6 seats in a Polo 6N - Rail size issue?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, wondering if I can get anyones advice on this. I bought some VR6 leather front seats for my 6N and my local garage fitted them for me one day while they doing something else on the car. They seem ok and slide back and forth (though a little stiff but not a problem really) - oddly though, they rock side to side a little and on inspection the rails they are in seem to be too big. There's no danger of the seats coming out of the rail I don't think (but I don't exactly take corners that hard to find out!) but I feel like they should definitely be more secure. Are they just not in tight enough somewhere or do I need something to make them more stable? Every site I checked before said this would be a straight swap but I don't remember the old seats behaving this way.

A guy at work hitched a ride and said it would be an MOT fail if I didn't get it sorted so I'm keen to hear other peoples views and opinions on the matter.

Thanks
Michael

White clips are missing probably. They clip to the seats

Ohh that sounds promising. Thanks for getting back to me.

Can you perhps advise if the clips are specifics to the rail or the seats? Any idea where I might be able to get hold of some?

Thanks again!

they're not to hard to check if they're there, will get some photos of them later on

Thanks Jwollerton, I'm certain they are not there but with no frame of reference I can't exactly understand what they look like, where exactly they fit etc and I don't know what the part numbers are so I can't yet buy new ones.

Pictures online are scarce!

Thanks the part numbers nige, as useful as ever! I am curious about part 8 on the diagram as it looks similar to these parts but I'm not sure that it's on my seat either...

Anyway, I have found the below and was just going to buy them but...

...then I noticed this auction that includes two other pieces called "Guide piece front 435881203A" as well - which I can't see on the diagram - are those pieces to be found on the 6N seats as well and are they on the diagram but I just can't see them?

I'm presuming the installation will be quite straightforward; remove the plastic trim, undo the bolt at the front and slide the seats partially out so the white clips can be clipped on before pushing the seat back into place and bolting it up again. Does that sound about right?

Thanks guys
Michael

Yes slide the seat fully rearward till the feet come out of the track, then clip the guide pieces onto the feet, slide back forward refit bolt/nut :)

# 13 is the guide at the front of the seat where the nut/bolt rail slides

If this isn't solved, they're the same as your standard seat rail clips :)
