Hello, I took off the cup holders/coin tray.

now I want to take it apart.

can someone help me and post a video/pictures or describe how to dismantle it?

There are 2 clips holding each tray into the housing, lift both with flat head drivers and pull it out.

From memory the cup holder splits in half top to bottom, again with clips. There are springs and little plastic gears inside so best to do this on a clean table with a towel etc under it to catch them and stop them rolling off the table to be eaten by the dog etc.

I'm assuming your wanting to take them apart because they don't work, word of warning don't bother as it's very unlike its repairable unless you have the ability to make new gear that are a millimetres wide. Most of the failed ones I've seen have a tiny white plastic stop that snaps when the tray is forced back in, of this was made from metal it wouldn't break - but that wouldn't be VW, would it?

yeah I wanted to repair them, if you say it doesn't worth the bother so i guess I wont try to.

maybe just open them to see if there is any chance that things just got out of place (slim chance)

Did you manage to take them apart? because I didnt.

I did lift the clips up but it seems to move out only about 1 cm, I guess I need to pull really hard, but I dont want to break anything
