Engine, brakes, all sorts of bits

Featured Replies

Hello Club Polo,

as you can see from my profile info, I registered in here many years ago. Since then I have moved onto many different cars and strayed away from the polo and small german cars. That said I have not strayed very far from the German marque. Anyway....

A few months ago I sold my Ford Ranger and bought a much smaller VW caddy van, some of you may already know but the seat Ibiza front ends bolt straight on to the caddy van. With some crazy prices floating about it proved cheaper to buy a whole car just for the front end, this is why I am here.

I have myself with a 1.4 petrol MPi Seat Ibiza sat in my garage, running, driving and missing a few parts.

I have been out of touch on here for many years now and I have no idea what this is worth, if anything, hence it being in this section of the forum, along with the fact that I don't even know if these kinds of engines are any good to you chaps with polos.

The engine is showing 115K or something like that, service history is super poor (last one in the book was at 17k I think) but some one has written on the timing cover a date and mileage which seems to add up for the current date/mileage.

Car seems to have a problem with reverse and 1st, mainly reverse, when under load it seems to pop out, same some times in 1st but the car does drive. I am inclined to think that this may be the linkage, sounds like it is smacking against a heat shield under there somewhere and not correctly selecting.

Engine gets to temperature and holds it well, fans kick in, all seems good and as it should be. Goes quite well for what it is to be fair.

This is still in the car, sat in my garage. I have taken the following parts.

ARB

Front end - Every bolt on panel from the A panel forward.

Dash and door cards

Carpet

mirrors

front doors

Steering wheel

Everything else is here

Engine, box, drive shafts, loom ECU, clocks, keys, Fusebox, all is still there.

Front and rear brakes

Suspension

Rear doors

Seats

Boot

Cat

Alloys

Now I cant throw things out if people can get use out of them. If you have a use for the engine come over, tug it out and take it away (I can lend you my engine crane) If you want the thing shipped, make a donation of payment and I will pull it out and put it on a pallet at your costs. Obviously collection is ideal.

I am in Kent, 15 minutes from the Dartford crossing in ME8 area.

Any questions fire away

Please NOTE - I will add some photos in later, I am in a browser that wont let me paste.
