Hi there I'm just wondering if it's a common fault for the door lock to stop locking on a polo 6n and is it easy to fix or do I have to by a new inner lock.

f by door lock you mean the lock barrel you put the key into then yes it's an easy ish fix.

There are 2 types fitted to the 6n an early or late (jagged early type, or later worm type key) the early is very easy, as it's basically a hook holding down a spring.

The later type takes a bit of practice but once you do one the rest will be easy and you can do them all day.

There are repair kits on eBay, around £5 a side and IMO worth every penny. There is a paddle type shaft behind the lock barrel that connects it to the actual door lock mechanism, this gets rusty and snaps off, when it goes off the spring that returns your key to the centre flys off inside the door and is lost forever so will need replacing. All the parts necessary are in the kit and there are a few videos on you tube.

Thank you for your help but I took the whole lock apart the outer and the inner it turned out to be the inner lock a bit of plastic had snap which prevented it from pushing away from the latch and which ever handle you pulled on opened the door.

Hope that makes sense lol
