Polo 6R Electric Windows Problem

Featured Replies

Alright guys/gals? I have a 2010 Polo 6R, yesterday I had a problem with the passenger side electric window, it went half way down and then stopped, wouldnt go up or down. I took the door trim off to see what was going on, and the wire cable had rusted and snapped. Does anyone know if a regulator repair kit is available for this car? I've been looking online, and can't seem to find one.

Also, has anyone replaced the cables on this model? Is it easy to get the runners out and back in, they don't give you a lot of room to work, just a small hole about 30cm x 30cm!

Cheers guys/gals!

  • Yes, it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a new mechanism from VW !! just make sure you get the correct 2 or 4 door as the cable lengths are totally different:)

Here's the instructions from the dealers manual 6R Removing Window Mechanism.doc

This is the part number list

There's no repair kits listed but just looking at the pictures, it looks very similar to earlier polo electric mechanisms, so you might find that one of their repair kits would fit???

Excellent, thanks for the reply! I may try the repair kit for the previous model, only a tenner on ebay, so worth a crack!

Update:

I got a new window regulator through euro car parts, and fitted it today, all fitted fine and window goes up/down smoothly.

But, for some reason, if you press the electric window switch down all the way, the window doesn't wind all the way down/up automatically like it used to. This is the same if I use the passenger or driver side control. Although the driver side window will roll up/down automatically still. Also, the key fob used to wind the windows down if you held the open button down long enough, it no longer does this since changing the regulator either. Any suggestions?

Here's the procedure to reset the auto functions

Window regulators: Checking positioning (open and close functions)

Note

The automatic opening and closing features for the electric windows do not function after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Therefore, before a new vehicle is delivered, the window regulators must be reactivated. Once the windows have been reactivated, the battery must not be disconnected again.

WARNING

After batteries have been disconnected and reconnected the roll-back function of the electric window regulators is disabled. Severe pinching injuries could result!

Carry out the following procedure to reactivate the automatic functions of the window regulators:

Note

The following work description applies to the front left window regulator. Reactivate the other window automatic functions in the same manner by operating the respective switch in the driver door.

– Switch on ignition.

– Close all doors and windows completely.

– Pull window regulator buttons up and hold for at least one second in this position.

– Release buttons, pull up and hold again.

The one-touch opening and closing function is now ready for use.

Note

The positioning of one or more window regulators can be reactivated at the same time.

– Switch off ignition.
