Making rust :)

Featured Replies

hi,

I have a few spare panels that aren't in the best shape so I figured instead of brining them I can strip them and give them the rat look.

I have stripped a wing by burning the paint off (a lot of fun) and then used a DA with 320 grit to smooth it and get the fine bits off, I then fitted it and left outside. This is great because it means the nice shiny freshly painted wing won't get damaged while the car sits on the drive looking sorry for itself.

What's the best way of making it rust? And what time frame are we looking at?

I live by the sea and everything metal seems to rust up quickly but this wing hasn't and it's been 3 days.

Thanks

I had that idea Steve0 3002 but it hasn't really done much, maybe I will mix it vinegar or lemon juice as nice says and see what happens as I have those around the house.

I don't know where I would get peroxide from, any ideas ?

I will get some quality YouTube time later on when I start my night shift :)

Peroxide from ebay, but don't go buying it in large quantities or you might get the attention of the security services, as it's a component used in some explosives!!

I did see someone on youtube piss on a boot lid and it went well rusty ...

Mighty car mods on youtube put different stuff on different panels on a golf. Beer and wee-wee did the best jobs if memory serves.

Snap that's the one I watched ..

Can get peroxide from a pharmacy, it's it's for cuts and to kill germs, of you wanna go down that route that is

wheel cleaner seems to make discs rust like a mofo so maybe that if you have any laying around

Urine is free :)
