Hobo my mk3 hoodride Polo

Featured Replies

I am from the northwest near Chester and own a mrk3 polo 1ltr coupe which I bought for £200 as a cheap run around ( as also own a 6n2 1.6 GTi which is a big work in progress )

The car was already lowered with banded steel wheels along with a 4 branch manifold and 1.4 injector along with black dash and door cards oh and rover seats. So car pulls off pretty nippy as my mate found out the night I bought it and had a little race with his mrk3 1.3 coupe. He wasn't very happy haha

I never really intended to do anything but drive it but theses plans never last long. In my case about a week and a half. So since owning I have fitted

Inside:

my old vauxhall nova roll cage and rear strut brace

Drift style steering wheel with vw logo horn button

Rat door pins

Vw beetle window winders

Vw camper basket/drinks holder

Beer pump handle for a gear stick

Removed the back seats but left the bottom bench

Fire extinguisher

Retro suitcase which is a tool box

Racing window net on driver side

Outside :

80s roof rack which has a beer keg and beer bar pump connected to it, bacardi suitcase, coke cleaning kit, sol ice bucket, duval beer crate, bottle opener, beer pump clips and two Stella garden umbrellas

Badge-less grill

Clear indicators which have been black fly eyed along with the headlights

Smoked side indicators

Fly eyed the back lights

Drift/jdm wide arches

Quick release bumper brackets

Dice valve caps

Vw centre caps on the front wheels

Shot gun caps over wheel bolts

Towing strap

Front splitter

Bacardi logo on both doors

Custom made eye brow

Also fitted a vw beetle baja bug exhaust which was modified to be my back box so car sounds like a beetle

So yeah considering in only bought it as a cheap run around I've ended up building what I like to call a track rat haha. Like it or hate it or just don't understand it me and Hobo ( cars name ) always bring a smile to a lot of peoples faces everyday. Incase your wondering about the beers stuff I deliver beer for a living so I themed my roof rack around that

Still have a few more parts to fit to the car like my racing harnesses

Right time for pictures

A range rover in work then decided to crash into the drivers side when the car park was full of snow ( driver said he thought his tyres would of gripped because he was in a range rover ) never the less the range rover came off worse than my car and gave me a good excuse to change the front of the car

Love it - great car and lots of style

This car is epic, it reminds me of my ratty morris minor, different but always makes people smile. Keep up the good work :)

Hi you like your steering wheel what boss did you use to fit it ?

I think it looks great with what you have done so far and very unique. Not to everyone's cup of tea but bet it turns some heads

  • Author

Breadvan the steering wheel is made up of 3 different products that I bought separate off eBay. Had to buy the steering wheel then I bought to different bosses. One so I could fit the wheel to the car and the other one for the horn I also used the black screws from the one I got with the horn mate

Yeah the car does break a lot of necks and brings a lot of smiles along with the most popular question " is your keg full of beer "

After two weeks and having to message the eBay seller my bonnet vent finally arrived yesterday from Germany. Brand new and still in an unopened packaging. Was a shame to open it but I had to

So the Polo is now sporting some 80s styling love

Had another quality day at VW Northwest at Tatton Park. Me and my girlfriend bought a few things. She mainly bought all the cleaning products , tools , gear knob and the skeleton for her car while I bought a set of new legal pressed plates , mud guards , Haynes manual and the air filter stuff ( turns out I bought a carbon ramair for £10 ) oh yeah and some cable tyres

Of course it would be rude not to get a picture of Hobo

Also turns out I managed to get a picture parked in the same place with the same gold Passat parked behind me like last year. So feel free to play spot the difference 😂
