Anyone ever attempted to fit 15x8.5's with et20 onto a G40?

Or even better any pics?

Sorry to be one of "those' guys asking the stupid questions but I've searched high and low for threads or any mention of it and no luck not yet anyway...

I dare say you will struggle to get them to fit on the front without serious arch work. After all they are 3 inches wider than standard and will sit 18mm further out.

The rear will probably sit nice though.

After that is just a case of tyres, 15s can work on a mk3 with a 165/50/15 tyre, but that is nowhere near wide enough for a 8.5inch rim.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I think the rear should be pretty perfect but the fronts are going to be a push!

I've got 9j et20 alloys on my Mk2 Golf. They're 16" but in regards to poke, they stick out quite a lot and they're on 205 tyres, with a bit of stretch. My car was quite low and I've had to bring it up as far as I can go and roll the rear arches to get them to stop rubbing. My previous wheels were 15" 6j et45, so the difference is quite big! I can imagine the arches on a Mk2 Golf are far more accommodating than a Mk3 Polo.

Seems I was mistaken, they're 8's and they're not as bad as I had expected, skinnier tyre and possible skim and it'll be good I think.

Doesn't look too bad, tyre makes it look huge on the little Polo though.

I know it’s a long time ago lol but did you manage to get 15x8 on polo? I have mk2 polo coupe I want to put them on

The OP hasn't been online since July 2015 so I doubt you'll get an answer
