After lurking here for years as a member .......

.... finally some sort of introduction thingy.

Short and simple:

Luc, nearly 50 years old and from this day forward the proud owner of his 4th Polo. After a Breadvan, a Sedan, a Breadvan now another Breadvan. :D This time a 1984 one with engine code GL. The tiniest engine available.

Plans:

Turning it into a campervan, slightly lowered and engine swap to 1.3 (GK pistons, Honda CBR carbs, flowed head, G40 exhaust line)

Aim: to visit lovely UK for extended walks. So I can bring my own, and cheap, place to sleep.

Luc

Thanks for the welcome.

Camper is going to be a single seater (so there will be a reason to leave wive and kids at home)

Furthermore: a ragtop Twingo roof is going to be installed. Oh, did I say holidays in the UK .... [remembers something about rain]

For those interested and able to understand Dutch: www.g40.nl is my general dwelling area. Same name: Steilheck

Do not expect a very up to date build thread coz of personal laziness

Cleaned it all out due to lots of water where you do not want it. That is why there is some rust in the interior. Hence the single seater version! Interesting fact: no rust on the original petrol tank fill pipe and surroundings

But there there was the ubiquitous hole under the battery :unibrow: But that is repaired. Water also came through te deteriorated plastic behind the door panels. Also being repaired.

Bogstandard GL engine.
