Also am I missing some bits? This is all that was in the box. Literally all I have is the pads and the calipers and discs. Is there meant to some anti-rattle/squeal shims or something? (vw2 upgrade)

Yes all the sets come like that.

I put the larger pad on the outside and the smaller pad on the inside. Don't know if that is correct but it makes sense in my eyes due to the caliper design.

You may have to buy the anti rattle shims on their own...or reuse your old ones if you have.

You'll get a new set from GSF for £5 though.

Thanks mate. Just to clarify, this is all I have:

And should I be worried about this little bit of damage to one of the pads?:

That should be fine, but I would say something to EBC if you're giving them feedback.

I assume you're planning on using the VW1 carriers? Do you have the bolts to go with the VW11 sliders, as they are different between VW1 and VW11.

If not you can get new ones on eBay for peanuts.

Ah no I dont, didn't realise they were different so thank you, saved me a ball ache..take the brakes apart to find out I cant fit them :x

Yes was going to use the VW1 carriers, no issues with that right?

Got discs coming and have brake fluid so other than the fitting kit and bolts and possibly some copper slip nothing else I need?

Yeah they have one long bolt and one shorter one. I'm sure the VW1 bolts are the same length.

No issues with using the VW1 carriers though.

Here is the kit I bought for mine, you'll need one for each side. Worth doing the rubbers and nylon inserts too.

After that then that should be you. I would do the flexi hoses as well and a complete fluid change. But I can be bad for the whole "since I'm there" kind of thing.

Nope I share that sentiment although I changed the fluid a month or two ago as I did the rear wheel cylinders. Have braided hoses on there already so no need to swap them out I dont think. 20mm m/c alreay on there too :)

Just found out I have the wrong discs I think. I have ferodo ddf182's which are 18mm (16mm min) thick but it's the ddf175's I need right? 20mm (18mm min)

That bolt kit you bought, I'd need two of them wouldn't I? Looks like it's a kit for one caliper?

Yeah I'm sure the vented ones are 20mm wide. The Mk2 Golf GTi 8v has the same front brakes so that is what I buy and it has always been correct, so check the specs for that.

Yeah like I say that bolt kit does just one side.

Strange as I was sure the vw2 calipers were on lupos too so why would there be 2mm difference in the discs if the calipers are the same?
