Decoding help

Featured Replies

I'm currently doing a 6n2 gti conversion on my 6n

I have the whole lot except the ecu.

I know the ecu needs to be decoded but does the clocks need to be decoded aswell? Or do the clocks need to come from the same ecu? I've found a ecu for the same engine I got ARC and the key for the ecu. So if I get it decoded will it work or no?

Thanks

You'll need the ECU, Immob unit & key from the donor vehicle, that way you won't need to recode the ECU. There is no coding of the speedo unit

I don't have the matching ecu and immob unit and key from the car that I got the engine from.. So I have put a deposit on a ecu and key and immob.. Will I still need to get it decoded?

As long as they all come from the same car you won't need to do any recoding :)

The engine is from a different car.. Will this be okay? Or still require recoding? Sorry just really confusing me lol

Where the engine came from is irrelevant.

You just need to make sure the ECU ( correct model for the engine model), Immob box & Key are from the same car, then you'll not need any recoding

Ahh ideal.. Thanks mate :) I don't need the key barrel do i?

You've got two options there, fit the lock/barrel that fits the new key, or remove the transponder chip in the new key and fit it into your existing key, that way you'll keep a single key for doors & ignition

Ahh okay thanks mate :)

Another thing is can I use a engine loom from a AVY engine and use it on a ARC engine? Both 6n2 1.6 16v gti engine

Should be interchangeable :)
