6n2 aftermarket cd player doesnt work

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, I have a X reg mk3 polo. It came with a CD player (aftermarket) that wasn't fitted...I plugged it in using a wiring adapter and it didn't power the cd player to come on..

So I decided to try another cd player that I had lying around and I know that this one works because I removed it from my Vauxhall astra and it was nearly new. I plugged this in using it's own wiring adapter and the cd player made a noise that sounded like a disc being read etc, but that was it, I swapped red/yellow wires just in case and then it didn't even make the noise.

So obviously the wiring is wrong. I don't really understand, it worked fine in the astra but doesn't work in the 6n2.

Instead of chopping wires etc is there a wiring adapter that I can buy from ebay that will definitely work?

Or...can somebody help me swapping the correct wires over?

I work using my car 5 nights a week and no cd player is terrible lol, so help is very much appreciated, thank you!

Check the fuses... specifically the top right fuse.

I had this problem, plugged it all in with main power to ignition and ignition to constant. This meant the power draw to the ignition was too high and popped the fuse. Check that fuse to start with.

The wiring harness can also be bought from any halfords stores for around £10.00, pop in and ask for it and they can search it by reg.

what colour is top right fuse meant to be? do you mean the fuses under the headlight control switches?

Anyway I remember reading that the fuse also operates the interior light and cig lighter/ I think I read that anyway and they work fine, cheers

I think it was red, and yeah, under the headlight control unit.
