Pre-1984 ones are different to post 1984 ones. The later ones use a clamped on single downpipe, the earlier ones use a twin downpipe that's bolted onto the manifold.

You can get a clamp on twin pipe. That's where i'm getting mixed up.

So can an early mk2 pipe fit a mk2f for a simple de-cat?

Probably, but the pipes are that thin I'm not sure you'd gain anything.

Just double checked myself and the early ones seem to be a mix of clamps and bolts, mostly bolts on Mk1, clamps on Mk2.
