I've just ordered a new Polo GTI, that's already 'going through the build system', so is due for delivery at the end of September (about 50 sleeps I think).

I was quoted 16-18 weeks for a factory order, but this one came close to my ideal spec.

It's a 3 door manual, in white.

Options are; Sports Pack, Light & Sight, and Cruise & Park.

If I'd had full choice, I would have added the reverse camera for just an extra £25 (why do they do both the parking pack and cruise and park?), and similarly with the comfort pack being only £75 more than the L&S, I would have had that (although folding mirrors on a small car is not so important).

If I'd been feeling flush, I might have also upgraded to climate. Not sure about the Nav. I would have added the 'app link' for £100, but hoping that this can be applied retrospectively by the dealer - does anyone know about the feasibility of this yet?

But on the whole, £1,000 is enough to spend on options, and I think they have been spent wisely.

I can't find too much user data around for them yet. So far I've only learned that I wont be fitting a bra to mine.

I'd be most interested to hear about other owners experiences to date, especially if anyone has been able to compare the manual vs. the DSG in the real world. I now read that the sports button on the DSG uplifts the torque to full power, but I've not seen this feature in any of the video reviews etc.

We've got a manual waiting for us for pickup in September.

As far as I'm aware, the problem with the DSG box is that it's the 7 speed dry clutch, which is rated at a lower peak torque output. No idea why they didn't just put the 6 speed wet clutch in instead!
