1.3 or 1.4 engine that can be carbed for mk3/4

Featured Replies

Got a 99 polo with 1.4 mpi aex. Need an engine which will fit in a 6n shape and bolt up to my gearbox ( 5 speed) that can be carbed and ran on points distributor the older style. Maybe a mk2 1.3 polo engine?? If it fits in the later shell. Located in Surrey. Thanks

I'd go for a 1.4 16v afh engine on either injection or carbs :) 130 Bhp on carbs and should bolt in fine

Think it'll be for a stock car so injection is a no no, why do you need points though? You get electronic ignition carbed mk2 engines.

I have the points distributor and a loom set up for that dizzy. I haven't got a loom or any idea how to wire the electronic dizzys. I'm trying to do away with the need for an ecu as it can get quite muddy and wet and can just forsee an ecu being the cause of a mechanical breakdown at the track. Thanks

the later round headlight mk2 had elec ingnition but no ecu as such , just the coil and a small tci unit which could both be mounted under the scuttle or somewhere dry
