Central locking problem on my 6n2

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry to trouble you again, I have recently purchased a 2000 VW polo 6n2, and the central locking was working fine until today, when l put the key in the drivers side and unlock the doors it is fine but when i want to lock all the doors it will only lock the drivers door????

What could be the problem? It was fine yesterday when l used it.

Please help!!!

Arguably something with the pump except you say the UNLOCKING works from drivers door on all doors so seems the pump is OK. So more likely something in the drivers door. But could also be programming has gone nuts because there is an option to set so only drivers door locks - if you turn the key twice in succession in drivers door does that lock all others?

Does the central locking switch (inside) the drivers door lock/unlock all doors?

Do all doors LOCK if you lock at the passenger door?

Does the window closing work at the drivers door - leave a window open, hold the key in lock position and window should close?

Hi,

I have tried the window (drivers) and the window doesnt go down with the key, but will put the passenger side window down. The central locking switch near the electric windows switches work fine. and if l lock the doors from the passenger side it works ok and closes the windows.

What could be the problem, could it be something in the lock or door??

Your help is much appreciated

How do you program the central locking then? if that's the problem?

?

Sounds to me something around the lock on the drivers door, but out of my depth as it is a while since i had one in pieces.

I mentioned the programming as its an option mentioned in the manual. You would need a licenced version of VCDS. But a red herring as the passenger door seems fine; if the option had switched itself somehow then I would expect the passenger door to only work itself. And turning the key twice to open everything.

Hi, I have seen on the web about problems with the central locking on the 6n2 polo's and they all say that it is something to do with the drivers door handle (exterior) and that it is something to do with a paddle thingy which is on the handle when you remove it. Does anybody know of this?

I've found a link on eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-POLO-6N-DOOR-LOCK-CYLINDER-REPAIR-KIT-FRONT-RIGHT-DRIVER-SIDE-OSF/221777077807?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D32957%26meid%3D6a153e0364504695be43f9025900d008%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D221788209737

Saying that though, is that the central locking has been working perfectly since today (Raining) and now it dont work via the Drivers door. :?

I have had similar problems, I hear central locking kicking in when activating key on drivers side to open, that's fine and opens both doors. Will not lock drivers door but does passenger, turning key twice both windows go down. Think my boot is supposed to open too? Does not.. Windows do not close either if key turned twice to right...Note locking switch inside on drivers side does lock all doors...Does not open boot

My drivers window has a problem too and wonder if connected? Switch ok on drivers side, when activated window goes down, but when closing goes slowly and then stops and goes down again...

How long can you hear the pump going for JhighlanderC? Usually should be a couple of seconds if it's more you've got a leak somewhere along the line. As for the auto close feature this usually works he windows up and down when held for more then 3-5 seconds rather then 2 turns, it won't open your boot though as they don't have poppers. You boot will unlock as normal with the rest of the doors. If your locking is working fine from inside switch and passenger door it may be the drivers door lock isn't all connecting properly or just is faulty. Also with the boot make sure he lock is physically tired to the right position for central locking as I had it on mine where it wouldn't unlock and kept having to use the key, once in right position don't let lock it after using central locking or goes back out of sync

As for the window it sounds like it's getting too tight or catching something so auto opens so as not to break the glass. Remove door card and check runners for any dirt or crap trapped in them or anything obstructing the window, also check the window and door seals make sure they aren't bent or twisted and check as the window goes up they don't move around and cause the problem
