6n2 centre console clip

Featured Replies

Hello, a while ago I was removing the centre console in my polo.

After removing all of the neccessary parts and bolts, only thing left was to unclip the console from behind the handbrake, so thats what I did.

I pulled it (not hard so I won't break it), I actually ended gently pulling it for about 2 minutes, and guess what? the clip did break.

Actually the console sits pretty well after puting everything together so I was suprised, but still I prefer to have this clip to secure it to the floor.

is this clip removable? I mean can I just replace it or something?

From memory (2+ years ago) it goes into the bracket #31 on the diagram and there is a peg on the underside of the console #30

Yup - there is a 'peg' about 2cm long on the underside of the console itself running front to back. Put the clip on the console, then make sure it is locating in the slot on part 31 as you finally push the console down.

(Just had my console out and back this morning for Airbag controller replacement. Haynes manual has good advice to make sure the spring clip does not fall down among the handbrake cables when removing. In fact on my car someone previously had the console out as there was no clip as I removed it, but I could find the clip among the handbrake cables!)

Can someone post a picture of that peg under the centre console?

I know where the bracket is, but is it possible that the peg broke?

OK so I took the CC apart and had a look at the bottom, seems like the peg itself is broken
