I'm looking for a set of clips that are along the bottom edge of the opening at the front of the car. Photo shows the grill off with two of my clips broken. Anyone help? By the way it's a coupe 1991

Anyone out there breaking a mk2f coupe? These clips are on the lower opening of the grill area. Helps to hold the grill in place and stops it rattling.

Someone must be breaking a mk 2f coupe on this forum. Just have a quick look behind the grill.

I'm sure someone has a mk2f sitting somewhere that they are breaking. Just have a quick look at the grill opening. Obviously will pay for and postage. Need this to help stop grill ratting. Do you have a pile of parts stored away somewhere? Have a look please.

Do you mean the 4 along the bottom metal piece? On mine they are only for holding the wiring in place? But on yours the wiring seems to go along the top.

The grille on mine has probably never come off before, but I did not see any clips along the bottom edge, only at the top.

I'm sure these would only be a few pence each? I know it's only a small thing but have you ask your local dealer? VW heritage probably stock them but they are usually more expensive. Plastic clips are better when they are new old ones tend to get brittle.

Thanks for your reply. The clips are across the bottom as seen in the photograph. They hold the cable behind the lower edge but also the act as a securing position for the grill. My grill is very lose and rattles. Two of the clips have broken as seen. May try dealership but thought I'd try the forum first, probably not on the Heritage web site.

On mine it had all 4, but they where not fitted where your are, they where next to these raised parts.

The grille has 4 "feet" these slotted onto those raised parts, then the clips are at the top.

The clips for the cables did not point up they pointed towards the radiator, so clipped onto the flat part of the metal (if that makes sense?)

I would suggest bending or lifting the metal part so it is a little higher, this way the grille would be wedged making the top clips sit snug against the top of there holes.

I am not an expert on these cars as I haven't taken one apart as much as the later polos so I could be wrong.

If you have problems finding any, you could try your local motor factor, they will probably have assorted boxes of 'generic' clips which would get you out of trouble - They will normally sell you as many as you require without having to buy a full box.

VW stopped making the clips in 2011. Oh well a scrap yard scrabble it is unless someone can come up with the goods.

I can get a set on German eBay but they would be priced at £18. I think that's too much for my budget. Will persevere with this forum and scrap yards. Problem is that it is becoming a rare car in the scrap yards of S Wales. If anyone has a local yard with a mk2f and can find some I would pay plus postage. Anyone?

They are pence from this seller. It looks like they are using Classicparts.de as their supplier.

Classic parts.de have re made many early components for early cars such as the MK1 Golf, Rocco, polo etc.

Well worth looking at if you haven't already.

They have a parts search by OEM number too.

I have a MK1 Golf Cabby and I fit a lot of roofs and needed some clips.

NLA from the dealers for years I sent a sample to Howard and he got them for me no problem at all.

Did they solve the rattling grille and did the grille fit back properly with them fitted
