Hi everyone i know this sounds silly to ask but do you know if a perished tyre with a lot of tread will pass MOT test, is it a standard thing to fail on ?

my mot man said the cords need to be showing to fail it , so probably be an advise

Generally, yes. However, get it sorted. The two things you never cut corners on are tyres and brakes.

Is this on your 6r? The tyres shouldn't be old enough to have perished. Are you sure it's not been driven on while flat or very low on air? If it has, the sidewall damage can look a bit like perishing. If that's what's happened, the tyre needs to he in the bin ASAP.

Providing the tread is legal and you can't see the canvas then it will pass. Cracking on the sidewall or tread is just an advisory.

But I'd get it changed ASAP anyway.

Generally with tyres, if it looks dodgy to you, then replace it - while you are still alive to do so!!
